i totally agree with her i have wrote soo many speeches on this subject and i would never argue with anything she said. i look up to her even though she is younger.
The fact that YouTube banned this video says volumes about our "culture". I saw Norma McCorvey speak last... This is a building social movement, as the popularity of this video attests.
This young orator is good! True and correct. I am an adult man that is responsible for 3 deaths of unborn children. I am scared for life and it tears me up when I think of my now living children and grandchildren. My father was in tears one day when I came home from work after high school in 1973. I asked this strong Texan and military man what was wrong. He calmly looked at me through teary eyes and just stated those children were his grandchildren (2 separate abortions)and he would have cared for them as his own if he had known my girl friend was pregnant. He cried hard and long! Abortion has long lasting affects on all involved. And, I, as a young teenager and then a young boy in the Navy did not know how I disrespected the girls father and her entire family. I broke the girls father's dreams about his family and shattered his innocence. Those fathers did not give their daughter to me and I no right to do what I was did! There is also a deeper reason we do not even mention in these conversations. The spiritual side. When a young women gives herself to a young man and they have sex there is a blood covenant that is forever between the man and woman. The man's member breaks the woman's hymen and there is shedding of blood. Why do you think a woman is drawn to that man for life! (Am I wrong lady's?) Liberals are trying to live in a world with no consequences and no accountability for anything, hence the handout society! There is no hand out and there are consequences to every action. Life begins when the sperm penetrates the egg (PERIOD). Even thought the government cannot issue a social security number. Anything less cheapens life!
Oh yeah, I believe in a woman's right to chose...and that is before she is pregnant! After pregnancy the woman shares her rights with the new and growing life. And, men you have part to play in that decision. Do not do what I did because it hurts so bad now I sometimes cannot stand up and I cry like my father did. When I remember then only God can help me!
Lia you have made your parents proud!!! So glad you stuck to the...

I would like to ask a hypothetical question of you. Since you say a fetus does not have human rights then when a drunk driver kills a woman that happens to have a fetus in her womb, then the trial should only include one life lost? I'm not expecting an answer from you just something to think about. I also would like to say that there is not always an answer for life's hard questions when we have no absolute authority. We in the small country of the USA used to have an absolute authority but we have now come to the conclusion that we are an authority all to ourselves. The WORLD is watching and loving the fact that we are crumbling before there very eyes all because of one person we have forgotten. It began with HIS ONE AND ONLY SON, JESUS CHRIST. HE is the only answer for our world today and always. There are many ways to look for JESUS but only one way to find him. He is calling to us, are we listening?
My opinion is not gospel but the BIBLE IS THE GOSPEL TO ALL!!!
This may receive may responses against what I am saying but Lia has had many negative responses as well. Great job Lia!! what an avenue for Christ to be lifted up.
Through out history a large percentage of the world’s population was and is from an unplanned pregnancy. I am pro-choice right up to the moment of the conception. Through out history those societies that kill the unborn, the infirmed and deny God’s Laws; are doomed. “Thou shalt not kill”....
Wallgirl10, Evaluation? Just because she has a different opinion than you? You've got to be kidding me. I guess free speech is only for those whose opinions you agree with. I'm guessing you think this mom is so "off" she should have aborted this little girl. The only evaluation that needs done is you need to evaluate why your heart is so cold and your mind is so closed.
For all of you who support "choice", I assume you are greatful that your mother didn't exercise this choice. Are there any of you who have risen above "poverty" or an environment where you couldn't be properly cared for? Of course there are. What is "properly"? Who decides? What is poverty? Who decides? So who has the "right" to pass judgement on the future of a "fetus" and decide to kill them so they avoid poverty and an environment where they can't be properly cared for?
You are an amazing girl who was blessed with an amazing talent. I wish I had not watched this at work though because now my face is a mess. You brought me to tears. I have always been pro-life and it is so awesome to see people unafraid of being ridiculed for what they believe. Your parents must be so proud of you. I believe God gave you an ability and a strength within to witness to others about this issue. A lot of people pick a side and do not even know the real facts. I believe God is going to bless you. Keep up the awesome work!
I'm a member of Pennmsylvania's for Human Life ( Luzerne County ) This speech should be viewed by everyone. I plan on emailing it to as many members as I can. Thank you ! mamaq
Im so amazed while listening to this teenager excellent speech on abortion issues. She has a better understanding than the Obama and other pro-abortion, pro-choice people. Another thing which I can't understand is the teachers who opposed the girl's choice of this topic. Where's the right of free speech? Why are these teachers so scared about this speech? It is so sad that even teachers are so blind about the truth of abortion. Personally, I have a dream for this country that someday young americans and teenagers will speak the truth of what they see, feel, understand and make the right decision to choose, promote, protect life. This girl stands as a great example to be emulated by others. I totally disagree with those who said that this girl doesnt know what she is talking about. Her views come from her research. You can't understimate the girl's brain.
I hear you, & it still hurts me so much that even stll I beg God for forgivness. Even after seeing all kinds of people about this. I still live with all this pain. I believe that is why know I love kids so much. I try me very hardest to always be there & give to them. I also believe that is why I am being tought the lesson I am going threw right now. But it is a grave lesson. Hopefully someone will learn from it. Just like your lesson. I care so much about others that it's killing me. But that is all I can do. toddsappeal & toddolsonsappeal I've learned so much that I give it away.
Any mother that would allow her daughter to post this type of video on the internet needs evaluation. Either way, I am pro-choice. This little girl has no idea what she is talking about.
I'm glad you shared your thoughtful comment. Most are unwilling to have thoughtful dialogue about hot-button issues like abortion.
I disagree with your pro-choice stance though. My wife and I have a three month old unborn child. Thankfully we are fortunate to be married and have a home and both have jobs. Very thankfully.
However, regardless of our socio-economic status, etc. I would say that the starting place of the argument is whether there is a "right" to "choose" to "terminate another's life" based upon convenience, accidental pregnancy, or even rape. "If I am inconvenienced or something accidental happens to me or something horrible happens to me - do I then have the right to terminate the new life within me?"
Is my unborn child a life? I'm glad my wife and I can both say "yes!"
And if I couldn't take care of the child or provide a good environment, I would hope that a fraction of the hundreds of millions of dollars of tax money funding abortions directly or indirectly were spent educating us about alternative options out there or even help with supporting our child.
Cassandra, you wish that "individuals" can have reasoned dialogue about these things. What about the voices of millions of individuals who were never given a chance to voice their opinion?
At the end of the day are we more than meaningless products of a blind macro-evolutionary process are we more than high-functioning animals?
Shouldn't each child be fought for as a unique soul and miracle of creation?
Finally, I do have compassion for the women out there in difficult situations. My wife is clear to me that pregnancy is hard. Really. We have to work for alternatives. We have to fund alternatives. We have to reach out to one another in solidarity and compassion.
Let's keep dialoging for the sake of others and not for our wounded egos in trying to "be right."
I had seen clips of this before, but only just got the chance to watch the whole video today. I am immensely proud of the choice of that girl to research and speak out for something she is passionate about. Her argument is very well stated and sounds well researched. However, just as in any speech meant to convince a person of one point-of-view or another, her side is not defendant of ALL the facts. I think it's obvious that this child has has the upraising of parents who have enabled her to develop such eloquence and articulation and if all children had such parents, even ones looking at the choice in question, I think we would not need abortion.
However, this is not the case. This intelligent and well-spoken young woman left out a number of issues that show that the Choice is necessary and should remain legal. She never went into the fact of using defective condoms or expired birth control that was given out anyway. These are real issues and do not speak to irresponsible sexual choices, but to accidental pregnancy. If the companies who sell these items took responsibility for EVERY faulty product and paid to help each subsequent child grow to adulthood, I think we'd have a MUCH lower rate of abortion. But the problem remains not with whether the choice should be legal, but in addressing our nation and our world at a much deeper level.
If EVERY child was raised well, with love, tolerance, compassion, accountability and a proper environment in which to live, grow and learn, then we would not need to look at options such as abortion. In that scenario, abortion may be seen as simple laziness and irresponsibility. But the truth and reality is, that is not our world. Those who are against abortion do not have to give up school at far too young an age, give up a chance to become financially stable, responsible and emotionally ready to raise a child. They already have the means and want to take choice away from others simply because they cannot see the other side of the argument.
I am both Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. I support responsible action and accountability, but not forced full-term pregnancy when the resulting child would be stuck in poverty or stuck in an environment unable to properly care for that child. That is abuse born from moral unease and I will not give up my rights to see that happen.
I respect both sides of this issue and am truly happy to listen to different views when the point made is done with such obvious intelligence. I only wish that everyone could look at each issue for themselves and come to a decision based on what is true to each individual while respecting that others may have a different point of view.
"We can deny rights to a fetus because it doesn't have rights in the first place" Ignoring our current laws on this topic when do you say one receives rights? My guess is you'll state a person has rights when a they exit the womb. Is not a fetus a child? The arguement she makes is very clear - a person is a person at every stage in life, from conception to death. Your type of thinking literally scares me. We don't say a teenager is no longer person just as we should not say a fetus is not a person.
"and the majority of women who have complications after an abortion like depression or drug and alchohol abuse have dealt with those problems BEFORE" Do you have any data which supports this statement? Since I'm male and therefore have never experienced an abortion I suspect that killing a person, which is what abortion is, would definetly impact me in so many ways. I'm thankful I will never endure the pain that some mothers have gone through, in particular partial birth abortions in which the child is partially born and then mutilated/murdered.
I encourage you to please rethink your stance on this very very very important issue.
shes a little girl who has no idea what the reprocussions of making abortion illegal are
and yes, we can deny rights of a fetus..a fetus doesnt even have rights to begin with
and not every woman who gets an abortion has unprotected sex
we arent taking away their rights because they had no rights in the first place
and that 1% are the REPORTED cases, the majority of those cases (rape and incest) go unreported, the percentage would be bigger if all cases were reported
ALSO WHAT THE HECK
there is NO link between abortion and breast cancer, that has been proven for YEARS now
and the majority of women who have complications after an abortion like depression or drug and alchohol abuse have dealt with those problems BEFORE
/>
the chance of complications following an abortion is less then .3%
this little girl has NO IDEA what she is talking about, those arent facts
ok now while i agree one hundred percent that abortions should be illeagle i have a question that is never answered any where that i have read, what about the thousands that were done illeaglly and killed both the mother and the child or the child mother you know i think it is completely wrong for either to die and our world has gone in such a corse that i dont know if it will change but if it does i hope they find a way to keep the death rate from illeagle back alley abortions down so that we dont have this fight ten years down the road again because when did some reading on the descion to leagize abortions that was the deciding factor the testimony of a mother who lost her grandchild and daughter to some scoundrel with a torch and a wire hanger these decisons wer made to stop that so the fight must first begin with the parents and they must be taught from childhood the sanctity of life. i belive that we live in a a-moral society because we have lobbied and pettioned and made laws that took morality out of the picture wich was the fall of rome and egypt and greece and allother world powers and this is but one example of some one else who wants thing right God help us all on judgment day
in response to "hmmmm", don't be discouraged. keep searching for truth. ask Jesus for the actual grace (interventive grace) to help you see what He's desperately trying to show you. His heart is ripped open wide to you. Just let go and let Him show you the next step. Also, I appreciate your sharing your opinion. Please don't take this info. as pride, just info. I recently discoverred and would love to share: the population/food government policy study completed by Jacquelin Kasun, professor of economics at California State University, Humbolt. According to professor Kasun, world agricultural recources could support twenty-two times as many people using our present methods of farming. Africa alone could feed twice the current world population. The hunger that does exist affects only about two percent of the world's people, and it is generally related to civil war or hard-line Marxist agricultural policies coupled with ineffective distribution. Clearly, government policy and the lack of peace are the culprits.
A couple of other interesting facts include the following: Ninety-seven percent of America remains undeveloped, with cities, towns, airports - even railroads - occupying a mere THREE percent! Also, no actual connection has been made btw what we call poverty and population density worldwide. Take the Far East, for example, where the mowt crowded nations are actually the ones enjoying the highest starndard of living - Japan, Taiwan, Singapore. Or (without over-killing the topic) take the example of the population of East Germany under Communist rule, which was far less than West Germany at the time; yet, its standard of living sagged horribly under an alien political-economic system... ...and interestingly enough, virtually every perediction by population "doom sayers" since the time of Parson Malthus(1766-1843) has proven false. Thanks for reading!
I just watched this video of an 11 year old girl giving a speech on Abortion that states more clearly and precisely about the staggering MILLIONS THAT TAKE PLACE EVERY DAY as well as the HORRORS OF THE EFFECTS ON A WOMANS BODY AFTERWARD...and how this unfathomable choice would HAUNT Her for the rest of her life as well as the possible inability to carry to full term another child, should make EVERYONE WHO HAS A SOUL WEEP!!! I AM SO PROUD OF HER!!! SHE HAS THE COURAGE AND DETERMINATION THAT IS LACKING IN MOST CHRISTIAN ADULTS TODAY!! HOW MANY OF US CAN TRUTHFULLY SAY THAT WE HAVE PLACED OURSELVES IN JEPARDY TO GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS THAT ABORTION IS MURDER AND TORTURE!! WE WON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO OUR ANIMALS BUT ALLOW OUR "HOLLOCOST OF THE UNBORN" TO BE CARRIED OUT DAILY!! IT HAS TAKEN A CHILD TO SPEAK UP!TO GET OUR ATTENTION!! ARE OUR HEARTS THAT HARD?? GOD FORBID!! This little girl certainly has... AND TRUTHFULL AS THIS CHILD OF GOD!!! May GOD Bless her and her Parents and anyone that has had an influence on shaping this child of GOD into the beautiful inside and out Shining Example of Courage she demonstrated to us today!!
This young lady should be commended for her beliefs & her parents an example of what parenting is about. Thank God she stood up for her beliefs, and went ahead with her speech, even though the school thought it unwise to speak on this topic. If my daughter had had an abortion, I would have been denied having wonderful twin grandsons, that my husband & I helped raise. Wish we had more teens and pre-teens with her convictions.
People have come and gone as we please, and who really cares about following God's commandments and plans for our children's future. More and more parent's are wanting to home school their children because we are bowing unter a One World Govermental System, abd it's called Socialism. We will have to go under someone elses rules and orders if people don't start standing up for what we beleive in, but then again this is all part of God's divine intervention and planning. May God bless this little girl and her family, always. Shalom
this 12 year old is wiser than most of the adults i know. and the weird thing is in murder situations, if a pregnant woman is killed and the baby dies, the criminal is charged for 2 murders while all the people who support abortion say that the unborn baby isnt really human because its still a fetus.
This young lady has more values and maturity than most adult women these days. I had no idea that only 1% of abortions were because of rape.incest etc.I Thank her for shedding some light on an issue that is so common these days. If a woman doesnt want to keep the child..carry it anyway.Theres a family out there that will and you may find that the bond between mother and child is a strong thing and keep it. Abortion is murder no matter what the case
How utterly amazing . I am in total awe . I only hope that my 11 yr old has the same views . I have 4 children and had them at a young age ,. No one said it would be easy , but great is the reward to those who follow the Lord . Bless you for sharing so fearlessly and standing up for those who are not yet able to speak and haven't been given the choice .
Well done! Out of the mouth of babes. I think it is clear maturity can be had at any age. Some never find it. Honesty escapes so many and denial is masked as a right or opinion. These fetuses do not grow up to be a fish, a tree, or a bug.
As we look back at how wrong slavery was and how ignorant people were in the past, we also will look back at abortion as ignorant people denying the truth, that this is in fact murder and taking of a human life.
The word abortion, will have as much of a meaning as the word slavery does today. The right to own another person, just because it was legal, made in no less immoral then as it is today... ditto, abortion.
The find out whether or not someone is truly "pro-choice" or if one is simply hanging on to the 1% of reasons why it should remain legal is simple really. And, that question is pin-pointed directly to them. That question is, "Are you glad that you're alive?" Anyone who is truly pro-choice, would not have an opinion on the matter. And, if they don't have an opinion, it tends to show a lack of passion for life or an inability to grasp what a human being is.
I also tend to disagree with "experts" that a fetus is NOT a human being. A fetus IS a human being. A fetus is simply a stage of human growth just like when we die we are still human, but we are a dead humans. As teens, we are teenagers, but we are still human. Again, a fetus is simply a discription we use to describe the stage of growth of a human being.
It is impossible for something other than a human to be born by a human. Just like it is impossible for a horse to give birth to something other than a colt. Yes, a colt is given a different name, but it is still a horse. Just because it is given a different label doesn't change what it is regardless of the stage it is at.
You stated you are someone who has recently exited out of the public school system and that "it's not a good situation" in which I case I'm dumbfounded by your not understanding how important it is get "other" side of the story in regards to abortion at the age of 12. Our school systems want to simply pass out condoms and actually encourage sex by practicing "safe-sex". Unlike you, I don't believe 12 is too young to share information in regards to sex and/or abortion, in fact, 12 may not be early enough.
I asked about your religion so I might gain a better understanding of where you're coming from, IMHO it does matter. In terms of your religion it sounds like you've been "testing" the waters so to speak. You will not find a perfect church or a minister with which you doctrionally agree on everything but you should connect with a church which agree on the basic doctrines: God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, baptism, gifts of the Spirit, etc...I pray the Lord help you in this important matter.
Oh well, it's not a big deal. I didn't mean to incite anger. I apologize to those I've offended. I was just expressing my opinion just as everyone else was.
For those of you who asked I am an American citizen, and I have lived in about 5 states across the US in the past 10 years or so...
As someone who has recently exited the public school system I know all about the maturity levels of middle school and early high school students, and it's not a good situation.
As for those who wondered about my religion in particular I'm not sure that it matters. I don't like the idea of abortion, but there are sometimes extenuating situations including how and where the child will end up after birth. I believe in God. There are parts in the Christian Bible that I have trouble with. Many churches don't see eye to eye on what the bible means or how it should be interpreted yet. I haven't found a particular church that I like yet, but as I've said I've only recently moved out on my own and am still looking. In the past I've been catholic, nondenominational, and Church of Christ.
I am so happy to see someone so small take a stand in a way that would scare off any adult. About the over population. Since when are humans the same as dogs and cats. I see that you are still eating. If you see someone who isn't-I think it is time you help. Aborting innocent lives isn't a solution to too many people. Educating the public about saving sex for marriage should be. Don't worry, hmmm... God loves everyone equally. He doesn't love Lia and others dedicated to the love of our Lord more then he loves those who don't know him so well. Jesus stated that we can not enter the kingdom of heaven unless we have the faith of a child. This little girl is a prime example of that faith. Good work, Lia. God bless.
To Hmmmmmm ~ Like it or not, our pre-teens are more than exposed to ideas. Filfth is lived out before them on the tv, Internet and in their teen world regardless of how much we might like to shelter them. I would certainly rather shelter my pre-teen from the horrors of this world but if they are not allowed to debate their views, ask questions and learn in a safe environment, what will they do if they make a mistake? Parenting comes first but sometimes we are one step or many steps behind what they're exposed to or experiencing. Check out this link - and ask yourself if this could be an isolated incident. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...
hmmm, Again, you simply do not give children enough credit, mentally or spiritually. I'm not sure if you are American and if you are but which part of the country you live in but in the city which I live, HOT Phoenix, our children are being told by this society God does not exist, namely in our public schools and various media.
Bravo, a million bravos to Lia. We certainly need to train up our children to critical thinking at an earlier age. Lia is proof that our young people are not given the credit they deserve. Your points in this speech are indisputable by honest informed people. Those who are opposed only demonstrate their confusion about life. Bravo again, Lia, keep up the good work, we can all make the difference if we only choose to.
Very very very good. Excellent! I myself have never favored abortion unless in the extreme rare case where a choice has to be made...the mother or the child. I know rape in incests is a horrible thing to happen, it is still not the child's fault.
Again, you misunderstand. I'm not saying that biologically they are unable to become pregnant. I said they are not mature enough MENTALLY to be dealing with the topic of abortion. For example we don't let them vote, why? They aren't mentally mature enough to do so. VERY few of the children under the age of 15 are having abortions... about 1.2 percent if you look it up. I didn't say they were too youn because they would be "scarred for life" or something like that. I was saying they are impressionable and immature. If this speech had been reveresed everyone would be agreeing with me or at least been angry that these children heard a prochoice speech.
As for a free country, yes we are and that's great. But you wouldn't want an Athiest to come in and talk to your 6th grader trying to convince them there is no god all the time. WHy? Because You're child is still young. Their mind is not fully developed and neither is their faith. If an adult were to sit down with a child for long enough and give them every reason why god doesn't exist scientifically there is a good chance that child would develop major doubts.
I'm not saying that I'm necessarily pro-choice or atheist. In fact I am not an atheist. I just think this speech came too early for these children.
I'm not going to even touch the president bashing going on... He's our president, at least for now. Deal with it.
Amazing speech Lia! Out of the mouth of babes His truth shall ring forth!
hmmmm, Are you kidding me, 12 years old is too young to be exposed to the "difficult" topic of abortion and religion? Its time to wake up to reality, I'm afraid you don't give children enough credit. 42% of kids ages 10-11 have viewed sexual images on the Internet! I'd say they are more than ready to hear more speeches like Lia's! In regards to your comment about exposure to religion at such an early age, we live in a "free" society and because of that my son is inadated with many different religions/beliefs. He has the right to choose which, if any, of them he will follow. Faith is not faith if it is forced. Christianity, at its core, requires one to freely follow Christ, it can not be forced else its useless.
Not a subject for the young, you say? Headline this week: 13-year old in Britain to be father. Mother 15. To me, the abortion issue is the litmus test of the true Christian. Nazi Pelosi may claim Catholicism, but she, like the pedophile priest, are simply black-hearted narcissists hiding behind a mask of righteousness. Obama voted AGAINST a ban on partial-birth and late-term abortions. Our president would have an infant's throat slit simply because the mother wishes it. With all that's going on, the first thing our new Democratic CIC did was to get the ball rolling on embryonic stem-cell research and pledge our tax dollars to fund abortions OVERSEAS! Change and Hope. For who? The self-centered, lazy, heartless, apathetic, and irresponsible sociopaths of our nation who justify infanticide with the maxim "It's my body!"
Wow!! Lia is right on every point, pretty and articulate. I will always remember the last point you made "...a person's a person, no matter how small." No matter how small. That is a point that can't be refuted. Thank you.
I think I should clarify further that my example of an arguement was just that. An example of one of the MANY arguements the opposing view would have given. I was just pointing out that no alternate opinion was given. For instance had I said that: the 5 month old abortions she was speaking about count as partial birth abortions which are illegal in almost everycase in the US, that would have been another example. Maybe I should have used that one instead so as not to offend anybody. My only point is that their are two sides to almost every point of fact she gave. Even if these children were older they should hear both sides. I think that is why it's imperative to give this speech at an older age instead. When a similar speech to this one was given in my college speech class during high-school we were able to have an intelligent discussion on the topic afterward, leading to more view points being shared. Age was critical to this sharing.
The population argument was just an example, a somewhat out there one that obviously isn't excepted by all. But the fact remains that having that many more people in the country wouldn't necessarily have been a GOOD thing. Not that killing them was right necessarily. To say that you would have to use your own morals which are different for everyone.
You said if they are old enough to have sex they are old enough to understand this issue. Isn't the problem that they aren't old enough to have sex? Do you believe a twelve year-old is old enough? I doubt you do after reading the rest of your comment. Part of the problem is they're not old enough to understand what they are doing, let alone the complexities of abortion. I agree that if a child WERE to find themselves pregnant at that age they would need to make a decision. But honestly most of the kids she was talking to will not have to make that decision at such a young age. Which is good since they wouldn't understand it. WHy do you think people don't like religion taught at a young age to their children? Sure they like their own religion taught but not other's religions. A christian parent wouldn't want their impressionable child taught about Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism or even FSM, because their children might be persuaded as children of that age so easily are. You also wouldn't want a 6th grade teacher preaching political views different than your own to their impressionable student. The same goes for Abortion prolife and prochoice. I don't think EITHER side is appropriate at that age for a classroom discussion. Maybe a home discussion with parents if you think YOUR child is ready.
While I agree with your comments on the quality of her speech, I strongly disagree with the entire rest of your post.
Re: population control -- The solution isn't murder, it's better use of the resources we have.
As for the age-appropriateness of the topic, these kids are old enough that some of them will shortly be facing the very decision she is talking about. More than a few 12 year old kids are sexually active in America. If they are old enough to have sex then they are old enough to contemplate the consequences of the action: children. And as abortion is offered as an "easy" way out of facing the consequences by such powerful personalities as our new President who wouldn't want his girls "punished" by a child, they deserve to hear the pro-life side as well. I seriously doubt that there is any lack of pro-choice information out there. If these children go to a Planned Parenthood office for help they will almost certainly be given an express ticket to abortion. Is it really so bad to have that refrain in the back of their minds: "A person's a person, no matter how small?"
Lia, I'm so proud of you for keeping your comments about the Creator in! Not only do I agree with you 100%, but I'm so pleased to see you standing up for your rights! The First Amendment guarantees us the right to express our faith publicly. For the school to ask you to take that out was wrong. The idea of separation of church and state is not a constitutional idea at all, but a phrase taken out of context from Thomas Jefferson's personal letters, and twisted by the Supreme Court to limit our religious freedoms in ways that the Founders never intended. School prayer, public displays of religious symbols, and mentions of the Creator in speeches are all protected. Thank you for your courage in this matter!
First of all, this was a very good articulate speech for someone who was so young. That's a very good achievement. As a forensics and debate student for years I can honestly say there are many debaters who have been speaking for years who can't give a speech at that level.
However my second thought, I fear, is not going to be taken guite as well.... She obviously put a lot of thought into her speech. I can't deny that some of her points made sense, to a certain degree. There are, however, a lot of facts that she didn't take into account. She discussed the "lost potential" for instance, but did not discuss the fact that as a country and a world we can barely control out current population. That's just one example. I have many more, but my point is not to argue the virtues or faults of abortion or the issue or particular religion based morality. My worry is that this is kind of a young age to start this kind of discussion in school. It's possible that this young lady is mature enough to make an informed decision for herself, but what about her classmates. They are being presented with only one point of view. Many other people believe a different way, that's is why people are having so much trouble changing the laws. These kids were introduced to only one side of the story. If it had been reversed, and she had given a pro-choice speech, many people who posted previously might have been angry. Either way these kids are too young to understand everything circling this issue right now. I think the teacher should have kindly told her to pick another issue. This one could have waited a few years. There are people who I graduated with who might have had trouble with this issue on a maturity level, let alone her 12 year-old friends. I'm not saying it was bad for her to take an interest and develop her own thoughts on her own, but shouldn't her classmates be allowed to do the same in their own time?
Lia, what a powerful speech and delivered with the courage and conviction of someone that loves GOD! You are exhibiting a type of strength that very few adults display, let alone a child of 12. God has a great work that He wants each of us to do and I believe that you are at this time, doing just that! Only God knows what is in store for you and I believe that you will continue to protect His truth and that you will continue to share it with all that will listen.
If I might just say a word to Michael...Michael, I am praying that you might see the truth of God's Love for you and that you will not let society, your education or anything else "abort" your heart. God through His Son Jesus Christ feels your pain and calls you to Him. I am praying for you.
The 'baby boom' between 1946 to 1964 was estimated to have 78 million new babies born during that 18 year time frame. The economy was geared around these large group of people. Since Roe/Wade decision in 1973 until now, roughly 50 million babies were aborted. During this period of 36 years these precious little ones never seen the light of day. If every one of these aborted could have lived, then married at say 20 years of age & had two or three children of their own, the numbers start to really accumulate. If you added these individuals to the number that were aborted, you would now have a few million more individuals than the 'baby boomer' numbers that everyone thought was so large. If the government wanted to set up a big stimulus package, then stop all abortions, set up adoption clinics for unwanted babies. Reduce the cost of adoption services. Give incentives & tax breaks to help reduce the cost of raising these chwouldildren. I believe because of Roe/Wade our economy is down as bad as it is. When people say 'God Bless America', WHY would God do that. These aborted children are created in His image, He must be very overcome that this is happening in our once great country. I hope that the freedom of choice act (FOCA) does not become law, then the number of abortions per year will 'go off the charts'. (Our new president says he will sign this bill into law once it comes to his desk. He said that if an aborted baby lives through a bad abortion, & is breathing on the abortion table by itself, he would make sure that the baby was killed, "to save the life of the mother"). To me that is just downright MURDER!!!
Wow...what a wise young lady you are! As adlts we must take a lesson from you and begin to stand up for what we believe in.You have set the standard high! Keep up the good work!
This was wonderful, especially the part about our Creator knitting us together. It is difficult to present that view in school, I remember I was always worried about being ridiculed for having a Christian stance on abortion even though I knew it was right. Way to go Lia, that was inspiring.
my friend, very good speech... and knowing what Canada stands when it comes to abortion, I just wish that American children your age would stand up for this stuff.. I never actually heard about abortion till I was 10, didn't really know what it was till I was in Middleschool, and once I understood what it was I was (and still am) heavily disgusted and against abortion.. oh and the definition of Fetus is really something that I've never heard(as the Liberal, left wing media would never let this on National TV, unless. in fact they are now pushing for a fairness law, that in essence let's them decide whats fair to say.. bravo, keep fighting and lead your generation to defend the speechless...
Thank you Lia, your speech is so inspiring to all of us in the pro life movement. Let us continue to pray for those who do not understand and for those men and women who have been impacted by abortion. There is so much healing that needs to take place. God bless you.
Way to go Lia!! Sad to say I have been involved first hand in witnessing abortion and I'm even sadder to say I even encouraged or at the very least welcomed it at the time. I wish that I would have had the courage that you do at the time I was involved with such a vile and cowardly decision in my life. May God bless and keep you and I wish you a very bright future!
Thank you for addressing both the moral aspect of abortion and its infringement on basic human rights, and thank you for detailing some of the trauma that the mother experiences. In the age of the Nanny State, my allergies get to trump the property rights of businesses in the form of restaurant smoking bans, reams of paperwork protect me from my own stupidity during the mortgage process (evidently to no avail, given the foreclosures), and "consumer rights" groups abound to protect me once I learn that I didn't do enough research before I took a given action. Why, then, is there little outcry when these women's and girls' lives are being altered FOREVER at the hands of a third-rate practitioner that herds them through the abortion mills like cattle? Well done, Lia; your obvious intelligence and charisma are already dangerous to the leftist establishment, so stay strong as you continue to become a greater threat to oppression, hatred, and ignorance!
Lia, AWESOME Job. I wish more adults had your same courage, drive and fervency. As for finding this speech on Youtube, sorry they removed it. To quote Youtube, "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation." I have seen so much trash and offensive junk on Youtube, and this little girl's speech gets pulled,Ridiculous. Shame on you Youtube!
You go girl; I've never witness such wisdom in a young lady. You have every right to look down your nose at so call mature and grown women. Please follow your dream and cause people to wake up out of their sleep.( THANK YOU
Hi! Lia. I thank the Lord for using you as His mouth, mind and heart. Great job!. You inspire so many. May God will bless you and continue to do His works.
A child in defense of the unborn child with great Grace and intelligence. I commend you for your courage and fortitude to speak the whole truth without wavering in spite of the pressures from the many ill informed adults surround you. If only those adults and many others would have the same courage to search and gain the truth about abortion and not just blindly accepting the media rhetoric. Or taking the attitude of "what is right for me is right for me and what is right for you is right for you". Thinking it is more important to not to rock the boat or be intolerant of others choices. When in truth it is not right for any one and as responsible citizens with a responsible government we should be protecting those citizens who are unable to protect themselves, and indeed the unborn child is a citizen.
This wonderful child has a special gift from God of Amazing Grace and she is spreading that grace through the unlikely source of new technology. Abortion is murder and it is like all those tens of millions of abortion-destroyed lives are pleading their case through her.
Praise God that from the mouth of a babe, the truth can be spoken. I am a 54 year of woman, that had an abortion at 21 and it effected my life so badly. I was full of regrets, depression and brokeness until I attended an Encounter at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and was delivered of the sin of unforgiveness. I could not forgive myself for doing such a horrible thing to a poor little helpless baby. Don't be fooled by Satan's lies, abortion is murder and we must stop our nation from being in the middle of this blood bath. God is a God of justice and there is punishment coming for this, but we still have time to stop and repent. Thank you to this brave young woman for having such courage and discernment. You will be blessed. Denise from Texas
The wealthy world has been lied to for so long, we no longer realize it. Abortion has destroyed over 40,000 in USA alone. Note the irony. We are wealthy enough to murder our own citizens, but not wealthy enough to send an Army to destroy our enemies. Read Numbers, 1-3 where God instructs a count to ascertain the quantity able to defend the nation of Israel. I am not advocating war, I am advocating defense. Abortion for convenience or... Freedom is more than a bunch of man made laws. True freedom requires knowing and obeying the Truth. Those that refuse to know or obey the Truth, will be enslaved to the Father of Lies, and freedom will be an illusion about which the demons will laugh, and the foolish victims will suffer for an eternity. May God have mercy upon us all.
I am so proud that a young woman would respect womanhood and the rights of a child like this young lady does. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us here on this earth and that it includes the right children have to be born, and not just to be born but to be born to a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. I wish more people would speak out like this young lady had the courage to do. It makes me wonder if I am doing enough in causes like this I hope we will share her reasoning with all we know.
Lia, I, too, am speechless! You did an amazing job of presenting the facts with poise and alacrity. I will do all I can to get this introduced into our Right to Life banquet coming up in April. Abortion is really an even more evil type of slavery than we experienced before the Civil War. It is a slavery of the very souls of women and their unborn children who are killed. God bless you and your family and supporters.
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL, THOROUGH, AND WELL THOUGHT OUT SPEECH - AND RIGHT ON THE MONEY. LIA DEMONSTRATED A POISE AND INTELLECT WELL BEYOND HER AGE, AND THE PRESENTATION WAS SO MESMERIZING AND BEAUTIFULLY DONE. LIA, HER MOTHER, HER "STAND-UP" TEACHER, SHOULD BE VERY PROUD, AND I, FOR ONE, FEEL VERY PRIVILEDGED TO HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE AND HEAR THIS BRAVE YOUNG GIRL WHO HAS THE STRENGTH AND COURAGE TO ARTICULATE AND SPEAK UP FOR WHAT SO MANY OF US KNOW TO BE TRUE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, AND THANK YOU.
God Bless You! Thanks for speaking out boldly for the unborn child. Abortion is indeed murder and sin against God. We need repentance in this nation and all countries who permit the murder of the unborn. Thanks for speaking out on this issues. Jesus has used you mightly.
This young lady is more smarter, articulate, right on and much prettier then all the democrats in Washington and across the fruited plains. Liberals hate people like her, as Michael expressed in his blog post here. She makes her point load and clear. This young lady is a future leader. She blows Nancy Pelosi out of the water. The Pope could not have said it better.
Lia, I am a high school Speech teacher (retired). I just want to congratulate on your delivery, but most of all, on your conviction and your courage to it speak out. God has wonderful plans for you. May you be blessed as you mature in your body and in your calling.
Lia, You are brave, courageous and right-on. Out of the mouth's of babes--no adult could have said it better. God in Heaven weeps over the murder of our unborn. The price that will be paid for this genocide will truly be unspeakable. God have mercy on us all.......mohenn
Hearing someone so young, with so much wisdom, brings me to tears.......tears of joy and hope, but also such wrenching heartbreak. Too many of our young ones have been "indoctrinated" to think of the unborn on a line similar to a tumor. Thank you Lia, so very much. Thank God for you! "And a child shall lead them......."
I admire this young lady and applaud her stance on Life. Most of the "pro-choice" people... Maybe If they looked at abortion in the terms of money and benefits they may change their thoughts about it. Just think, if all the babies that were aborted in the past, from the day it was legalized to the age of being legally employed, were alive and working or building businesses and creating jobs. Just think of all the taxes that could be collected. We have fewer young people to protect our country because these souls were not allowed to live and procreate. Our Attorney General called Americans cowards this week. Maybe we are when it come to speaking out against abortion. This young lady has courage and is quite an example to us older citizens. Go Girl
Hey guys, let's give Michael a break. We can be thankful that his mother did not choose abortion so that he could be here to express his freedom of speech. I am a Christian and 15 years ago I may not have given this much thought, thinking that the mother should be able to make her own choices since she is the one who would have to deal with the consequences. Bother whatever decision is made, there will be consequences. My mother was 18 when she learned she was pregnant. She married my Dad and I am grateful that they chose to have me. Otherwise, I would not have the beautiful family that I have today. My mother never considered abortion, and I haven't either. After I had my own children, I wondered how I could have ever thought about abortion being a choice. Lia is correct when she states that the choice should come in choosing to have protected sex. Last year a friend of mine shared that she had an abortion in her 20's. Now she is in her 30's and regrets that choice everyday. She thinks of the older sibling that her daughter and son would have had. What a shame. That tells me that the choice of abortion may be made that day for whatever reasons, but it lives with the mother forever. There are no rewards to be reaped in having an abortion. But, children are a blessing. They are the reward. Hearing their first words, seeing their first steps, watching their eyes light up when they learn something new are all rewards. Even if adoption is the choice, still that child will be a blessing to someone. Michael, be sure to thank your... Sandy (Texas)
this is the type of American that should be leading our country.I am a Christian but i believe that it is time to rise to the level our fore fathers would expect us to strive to keep.we are a nation of scardy cats.we should be more like the rattle snake that was on the snare drum that played while George Washington marched on philladelphia, coiled and hissing w/ the statement "don't tread on me."
This is how outspoken the rest of us pro-lifers should be! I admire this young girl. I am also suprised that I haven't heard this kind of strong language about pro-life views from an adult yet, maybe they are out there, but I'm not seeing it. Has anyone else besides me been wondering why these people that protect the young children so well from being abused think nothing of killing the unborn, and sometimes those aborted babies even take breaths, but are still killed? Why do they justify that??? That is also abuse!!! Honestly, I've had enough of that kind of thinking. It's contradictive, and obviously, just a way for people to justify doing something corrupt, to make life easier for themselves! I don't even agree with abortion after a woman has been raped. I know God is real, therefore, I believe it is disrespectful of the lives that God creates to abort even after a rape! Give the baby to someone who can't have children, or something else besides killing it!
Although people here criticize this young lady, I'm sure there will be plenty of "Thank You's" for her when she gets to heaven from those she has spoken up for.
This is maturity beyond her 12 years! Someday the rest of the world will also come to realize how immature the taking of innocent pre-born life is. Abortionis both draconian and immature behavior. Thank you Lia!
Lia, your speech is wonderful! Being born in 1949 with a severe handicap named Arthrogryposis I have often wondered if the last two digits of my birth year were transposed and I was conceived in 1994 would I be alive today?
Knowing my mother the answer is yes, but unfortunately not everyone was lucky enough to have my mother.
awesome and refreshing to hear a young person who has obviously done a lot of fresh thinking; disagree w/ someone here who said she was brainwashed. Her sensitivity has NOT been jaded by the world and those who have become hardened in their hearts or minds; but a child who can see the obvious & the real value of the gift of life. Bless you, Lia! and Thank you for a sincere & beautiful presentation of excellent & careful reasoning w/ respect to what is true and fact; you were careful to avoid making statements that cannot be corroborated. Faith in our Creator IS evidence of things not yet seen, as God's Spirit has made Him and His Word real for you, where you cannot help but speak what you know to be reasonable and true. God bless you and help many to seriously consider the thoughts here presented in such a refreshing manner.
1vecchio, don't be so hard on Michael. Like so many liberals, his forensic programming extends only to shouting and name-calling--we can't confuse them with facts! I'm sure he had a point... somewhere... he just doesn't have the intellectual wherewithal to articulate them. We should be proud he spelled "stormtrooper" correctly. Of course, he may have copied and pasted, but even that is an impressive skill for someone of such... meager intellect.
Now, to the video. Either Lia or the camera need to be still--I was getting a bit seasick. Also, the sound was a bit low sometimes--I may just need to turn up my speakers, so I'll not be critical of this. The speech was EXTREMELY well-written, and delivered with appropriate objectivity and compassion for the subject. aheidema was write, she delivered her very well-written speech with a surprising amount of skill and style for a 12-year-old.
Did she really write this? She makes such strong, mature, and (for the amount of time given) well-supported and documented arguments.
Very impressive. I'm going to forward this to my usual email targets! ;-)
Lia, you are an answer to many prayers. Thank you so much for having the courage to speak out like that. I am sharing the video with everyone I know. It moved me to tears. God bless you and your family!
The mother of a 12-year-old girl whose pro-life speech has become a hit YouTube video says her daughter's passion for the unborn is genuine.
Lia is a preteen from Canada who decided to speak out against abortion in her school's speech contest, despite teachers and school officials who encouraged her to pick a different topic
I saw Norma McCorvey speak last...
This is a building social movement, as the popularity of this video attests.

“Thou shalt not kill”....
Evaluation? Just because she has a different opinion than you? You've got to be kidding me. I guess free speech is only for those whose opinions you agree with. I'm guessing you think this mom is so "off" she should have aborted this little girl. The only evaluation that needs done is you need to evaluate why your heart is so cold and your mind is so closed.
Thanks for your comments.
I'm afraid you need to listen...
I encourage you to please rethink your stance on this very very very important issue.
illegal are
and yes, we can deny rights of a fetus..a fetus doesnt even have rights to begin
with
and not every woman who gets an abortion has unprotected sex
we arent taking away their rights because they had no rights in the first
place
and that 1% are the REPORTED cases, the majority of those cases (rape and
incest) go unreported, the percentage would be bigger if all cases were
reported
ALSO WHAT THE HECK
there is NO link between abortion and breast cancer, that has been proven for
YEARS now
and the majority of women who have complications after an abortion like
depression or drug and alchohol abuse have dealt with those problems BEFORE
/>
the chance of complications following an abortion is less then .3%
this little girl has NO IDEA what she is talking about, those arent facts
in response to "hmmmm", don't be discouraged. keep searching for truth. ask Jesus for the actual grace (interventive grace) to help you see what He's desperately trying to show you.
May God bless this little girl and her family, always. Shalom
Well done!!
You stated you didn't mean to...
May His perfect peace be multiplied unto you!
I hope everyone has a good day.

I'm curious, you stated you're not an atheist, then what group do you associate yourself with?
to Promotionsforlife - I found...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOR1wUqvJS4
The video is posted and active.
Again, you simply do not give children enough credit, mentally or spiritually. I'm not sure if you are American and if you are but which part of the country you live in but in the city which I live, HOT Phoenix, our children are being told by this society God does not exist, namely in our public schools and various media.
For the negative postings... at least you were allowed to live to post your message... apparently YOUR MOM made the right choice!
God has a plan for every single person... that's right, even if you don't believe in him... he believes in you and your right to live!
Deal with it.
hmmmm,
Are you kidding me, 12 years old is too young to be exposed to the "difficult" topic of abortion and religion? Its time to wake up to reality, I'm afraid you don't give children enough credit. 42% of kids ages 10-11 have viewed sexual images on the Internet! I'd say they are more than ready to hear more speeches like Lia's! In regards to your comment about exposure to religion at such an early age, we live in a "free" society and because of that my son is inadated with many different religions/beliefs. He has the right to choose which, if any, of them he will follow. Faith is not faith if it is forced. Christianity, at its core, requires one to freely follow Christ, it can not be forced else its useless.
If I might just say a word to Michael...Michael, I am praying that you might see the truth of God's Love for you and that you will not let society, your education or anything else "abort" your heart. God through His Son Jesus Christ feels your pain and calls you to Him. I am praying for you.

I am a high school Speech teacher (retired). I just want to congratulate on your delivery, but most of all, on your conviction and your courage to it speak out. God has wonderful plans for you. May you be blessed as you mature in your body and in your calling.
Did Obama tell you to say that, must have, because you sound like one of the mindless idiots that would vote for this clown
"And a child shall lead them......."
Most of the "pro-choice" people...
Maybe If they looked at abortion in the terms of money and benefits they may change their thoughts
about it.
Just think, if all the babies that were aborted in the past, from the day it was legalized to the age of being
legally employed, were alive and working or building businesses and creating jobs. Just think of all the
taxes that could be collected.
We have fewer young people to protect our country because these souls were not allowed to live and
procreate.
Our Attorney General called Americans cowards this week. Maybe we are when it come to speaking
out against abortion.
This young lady has courage and is quite an example to us older citizens.

Knowing my mother the answer is yes, but unfortunately not everyone was lucky enough to have my mother.
Thank you for your courage. May the Lord use you mightily for His Glory to open blind eyes and deaf ears.
I'm going to forward this to my usual email targets! ;-)
